Thomas Daniel Jones Paintings
Thomas Daniel Jones, a slate roofer from Snowdonia North Wales, evoked a passion for painting at the age of nineteen when a personal portrait of his father was short-listed for the BP Portrait Awards. Cultured by his surroundings of farming communities and the rural way of life he chose to develop his skills as a Landscape painter. Disillusioned by college he chose to follow his own art and ideas of painting away from the classroom and is evident in the vibrancy of his work. Thomas likes to take his time with a piece of work always reminded by his grandfathers own words “Nobody will ever ask how long it took to complete, only who made it”.

Artist's Statement:
A painting only works if it gives unlimited entertainment to the viewer, and should give us an insight into the character on the canvas. In my work I try to bring the portrait to life. The viewer feels the presence of the sitter as if it is held timelessly in the paint.
