| Robert Sutherland Digital Art |
| Since graduating from Dartington College of Art, Devon, England, in 1984, I have pursued an arts career with a strong bias towards painting, photography and printmaking. In 1986 I had a solo show at The Robson Gallery, Selkirk and was one of 6 artists chosen to exhibit work in a regional twinning exhibition between the Scottish Borders and the Thierache region in Northern France. During the 1980s and 1990s I had work shown in a number of group shows in Scotland including the Compass Gallery, Glasgow, WASPS Gallery, Glasgow and The Picture Gallery, Peebles. Since developing work using digital media I have exhibited in 2005 at the Headquarters of Scottish Enterprise Borders, in Selkirk.A portfolio of my digital work was featured in the August 2004 edition of "Computer Arts" magazine.I am currently based in Selkirk in the heart of the beautiful Scottish Borders and work as a artist and freelance designer. My work is largely inspired by the environment I live in. The landscape of forests, moorland, farmland, rivers and lochs forms the backbone of all the artworks I create. These elements are photographed, objects are gathered and scanned and combined with paintings and drawings to produce digital multi-layered assemblages. I'm influenced by many 20th century artists including Hockney, Miro, Kandinsky and Bacon. |
