Renee Evanoff Paintings
I am a Montana artist and graphic designer who lives in the Paradise Valley and works from my home studio on Rock Creek Road in Emigrant, Montana. I worked for Yellowstone Park for 12 years as the art director for the Yellowstone Center for Resources.I am drawn to, and so my work is filled with, vibrant colors and expressive composition. I am a mostly self-taught artist. As a young girl I was deeply inspired by the works of Diego Rivera when visiting Mexico with my parents and seeing his giant frescos first-hand. The colors of Mexico and the tropics are often found in my pieces. I find that I cannot limit myself to a particular style and find that now is the time in my life for observation, study, exploration, and passion - in a word FREEDOM. I embrace many art forms including photography, digital, watercolor, water-miscible oils, and the facinating encaustic. My preferred medium is oil, but I have recently embraced the ancient art form of encaustic, as well as delving more and more into digital-original art combination. I find encaustic to be the most liberating creative process she has experienced in art. My style runs from contemporary to expressionistic. I have a deep love of animals, in particular horses, but I am also intrigued by the spectrum of human emotion and behavior. My work is filled with my own heart, soul and what I like to think of as an exotic spirit.
Self Taught.

Artist's Statement:
I now believe that to excite the viewer's thoughts and imagination you must go beyond the technical ability displayed by high realism to provide the viewer with a further degree of insight into the subject. You want them to find something new every time they view it, and especially not say "wow, that looks just like a photo".
