Philippe Ruttens Photography
Philippe Ruttens Trained in London (LCP and Central St Martin DALI colleges), Philippe Ruttens has been working as a freelance editorial and advertising photographer since 2000. He specialises in “people and locations”, covering environmental portraits, travel and reportage. Born in Belgium, Sydney-based Philippe has benefited from a 14-year international experience in marketing, photography and writing. His work has appeared on many Australian magazine covers in recent years. Philippe describes his current style as “graphic, dynamic and real” and he thrives in showing intimate and colourful scenes of both people and still life. Recent clients include American Express, Australian Traveller, Financial Review BOSS, FPC, Mercedes, NRMA, Peugeot and Westfield. Philippe is also the editor of CAPTURE, Australia’s best-selling professional photography magazine— a position he holds while maintaining his professional shooting schedule. He also writes on business and photographic issues for a range of other publications that include The Walkley magazine, Australian Photography, AdNews and CREATIVE. Philippe’s approach is to use his unique experience in marketing, consulting, photography and publishing to fulfil his clients’ brief and develop strong, colourful images for design and advertising applications.His travel images have been exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions in London and Sydney. Philippe relocated to Australia in February 2004 after working in London for eight years.

Artist's Statement:
Projects/AimsAfter over two years in Australia, Philippe is keen to shoot advertising and editorial work that breaks down the usual Australian stereotypes and includes his unique vision nurtured in Europe. Roadtrips and environmental portraits are his main focus this year, with travel and society as recurrent themes. Philippe is keen to work with leading advertising, design and publishing corporations to develop strong campaigns and features pushing the creative envelope by using modern and quirky angles.
