Peter Watson Photography
Peter Watson is a self taught photographer who has been photographing the landscape since the 1970’s. He is based in England and travels extensively throughout Britain, Europe, Australia and the United States. Watson’s reputation has been built on his large format pictures which capture the landscape in incredible detail. He uses a 5 x 4 inch view camera and for panoramic images a 6 x 17cm camera. He photographs both in colour and black and white using slow, fine grain film which enables him to produce pictures of exceptionally high quality. He hand prints his photographs and releases them as Limited Edition prints. His hallmark is the creation of unique and very beautiful landscape images. His work has been critically acclaimed and is internationally published. His fine art prints are collected and are exhibited in galleries in Britain and America. He is the author of several books on photography.

Artist's Statement:
Imagine a world with no visual information. A world void of pictures, a world where communication is restricted to speech and the written word. Imagine this and the power, indeed miracle, of photography becomes apparent. A tiny fraction of a second, captured, frozen and preserved for the enjoyment of many. As a photographer I am privileged to have the opportunity to harness and share this power. Every photograph we look at is the result of a trinity consisting of light, land and photographer. As the photographer my role is to bring together the light and land in a way which transcends the boundaries of visual awareness. This leap across the threshold, the crossing from the seen to the unseen, is, I believe, the essence of photography. It is the essence of my photography. It is the nature of my art.
