	Mark Gibbs Paintings
	Mark's artwork is concerned with the colour and texture of landscape and in the form and significance of animals. Mark continues to develop his paintings and to exhibit; locally, nationally and internationally.

	Education:
	1995-98 BA Hons Fine Art, [First Class degree], Cumbria Institute of the Arts.1986-87 Foundation course in Art and Design, Chelsea School of Art.

	Awards:
	2006-2004 My studio group, West Walls Artist's Studios, [Carlisle], win the 'Drawing Inspiration Prize' at the BIG DRAW for an unprecedented 3 consecutive years. 2000 Northern Arts Small Assistance Award 1995 Stead McAlpine Travel Award

	Artist's Statement:
	My artwork is concerned with the colour and texture of landscape and in the form and significance of animals. The work moves between realism and abstraction, and between paintings on shaped canvases,[well primed board actually], and constructions. The constructions occupy an ambiguous space between thick painting and shallow wall-mounted sculpture.
