Marc Barquer Paintings
In my formative years my work was much more traditional, however over the years I've sought a more simplistic approach. I would probably define my style as contemporary figurative/ abstractive expressionism.

Education:
After a Grammar school education, I did my formal training at Art College for a period of three years. I gained a Diploma in Art & Design and subsequently a degree in Fine Art. I then moved on to the studio of artist and lecturer Don Taylor, where, for several years, I focused my attention on life drawing, portraiture, and still life.

Single Exhibitions:
Unfortunately, due to a chronic illness, I've not had a great number of exhibitions and the majority of my sales have been to private clients.
In 1984. A number of my paintings were exhibited at the Arts Lab.
1986. I painted a series of surrealist works which were exhibited at several public galleries. Salford artist Harold Riley saw and liked my work.
1989. I reached the Final of a BBC TV Art Competition.
2002- 2004. Exhibited at Manchester's G-Mex. |

Artist's Statement:
My most recent work is focused on the female form. My current project is a 10' x 10' oil painting on the same theme as 'The Brothel'; however, I have incorporated the style and colour of 'Woman wearing a rose'. I am excited by this piece and it should be completed within six months.
