Francoise Dunstan Paintings
I enjoy working in acrylic because of its versatility and its short drying time. This particular quality lends itself to spontaneity, and provides opportunities to experiment with other media. I particularly like to bring in some different effects to some of my works with paper collage, crayons and sometimes stitching. Above all, colour is my main interest and I am a strong believer in letting the painting evolve, without having to emulate what I see.

Artist's Statement:
I enjoy working in acrylic because of its versatility and its short drying time. This particular quality lends itself to spontaneity, and to experimenting with other media. I particularly like to bring in some different effects to some of my works with paper collage, crayons and sometimes stitching. Above all, colour is my main interest and I am a strong believer in letting the painting evolve without having to emulate what I see. My style has more to do with composition and freshness rather than an analytical reproduction. My stimulus has always been colour; it can be a joyous gathering of flowers or a rich yellow wheat field against an azure sky. The colours enthral me and I choose to ignore the detail. This has to do with where I grew up, the Mediterranean….where one not only absorbs and lives in the richness of the colours that surround you but where these colours change their intensity and hue with the heat of the day.
