| The landscapes created by Elazar Chaftzi represent the land of Israel. The Land of Israel is believed to have its own soul. Each landscape describes a different characteristic of the land’s identity. For example, “The Foggy Mountains of Gush Etzion” are heavy mountains with sharp edges. The vertical composition shows power, pride and confidence. Its connection to the people provides security and strength to those living there. The “Beach in Tel Aviv” symbolizes calmness, sanctuary, nourishment, and a moment of self reflection. It enables man a moment to remember and reminisce over his journey to the Land of Israel. It reminds them of from where they have come, the struggle that they have endured, and the relief of enjoying the place to where they have arrived. |
