| Conrad Mieschke Paintings | |
| Born 1938 in Poland (to German parents) A professional Artist for the past 36 years. The medium I use is watercolour, acrylic, or egg-tempera, and although most of my work is done in my studio, I take extensive breaks hiking around rural Ontario in search of new subjects, new ideas and new inspiration. My studio/home is in Brampton Ontario where I also have raised my son Paul from his age of 19 month on my own, since the death of my wife in a car accident in 1978. At present I enjoy most a hike in the country, the solitude of my work or a quiet dinner in the company of family and/or close friends. I live in peace with myself and with my world around me and I strive to keep it that way. | |
| Education: | |
| I was raised and educated, in Germany. Following high school, I entered a three year apprenticeship to learn the art of bookbinding and the restoration of books. During that time I participated in two nationwide bookbinding competitions. My work won a silver and a gold medal respectively at the competitions. I undertook further studies at the Graphic Academy in Munich and graduated in 1963 with a Master Bookbinder certificate. In 1965 I immigrated to Canada and worked for a publishing company in Toronto, Ontario. My employment lasted until 1970 when he decided to pursue my ambition as a full-time artist. | |

| Artist's Statement: | |
| “Painting is my means of communicating my most intimate impressions of nature, my emotional reaction to life, my deep feeling about my subject and the world around me. As an artist I try to interpret nature because it is also my basic believe, that nature is a true source of our peace. If my work is effective in communicating that believe then it speaks for me and I would like to think, that I have succeeded in this effort.” | |
