Claire Eastgate Paintings
Claire Eastgate was born in Nottinghamshire, U.K. in 1968. Her earlier works centred around the human form, working in sculpture and life drawing. She began painting in oil in the nineties, eventually specialising in dog portraiture. Developing her style and technique, she now creates a portrait quite unlike any other dog or pet portrait. Launching Claire Eastgate Portraits a year ago, she has found a growing interest and demand for her work both nationally and internationally. Her work can be found in many private collections and Claire is now producing work for exhibitions.Claire can be commissioned to paint your dog using photographs, or she can arrange a photo session.
Shrewsbury College, Birmingham School of Art Ba, The Slade School of Art, London and private tuition.
Artist's Statement:
It is important to me to approach my subjects as individual works of art. I want to retain a certain weight of tradition in the portrait, but surround it with a fresh approach and style within my compositions. The dogs that I paint become very special to me. These portraits are not part of a pet portrait production line, they are created with settings that give the dog the style, tradition and individuality that they deserve.
