| Carol Naylor Applied Art | |
| I trained at Goldsmiths School of Art and see my work as crossing the boundaries between Fine Art and Textiles. I have exhibited widely in the UK and abroad and have work in numerous private and public collections. I make machine embroidered textiles for public and private venues. Works range from large free hangings suitable for public and corporate clients, to smaller more intimate works. I have special interests in Art in the Healthcare Environment and in Education. | |

| Artist's Statement: | |
| I stitch directly onto painter’s canvas using a wide range of rayon, metallic, woollen and cotton threads.Intensive, continual stitching changes the base fabric from a flat surface to one that moves and undulates with its own unique quality. My work is about the exploration of surface and mark making. The surface of the fabric that I stitch onto is manipulated and changed by the techniques I employ, and the surface of the land provides me with visual stimuli. Current themes explore landscape, maps and water. Another recent influence is the poetry of Robert Frost, and in some works I have explored nature, land and light with his work in mind. | |
