Santosh More Biography
About my work:I have been persistently exploring the abstraction since my graduation in 1992. My early work had been preoccupied with motifs of organic forms resemble termite holes, rolls of paper, dried beans, bark of trees, rain drops, butterfly wings, etc. Retaining the memory of nature; like a forgotten pressed leaf between pages of a dairy, the memory of holding butterflies and smearing its powdery wing on ones forehead; or collecting snails to watch their silvery trails. These are the small pleasures that speak about fragile feelings, world of fleeting moments and encounters with nature that are engrained with me. Most of them are lost in the urban landscape and are quite often recollected in tranquility. I brought the attachment with nature from the place where I migrated for my studies. That was a very small village surrounded by nature and had no connection with urban life. My personal journey from rural to urban has had strong impression on my visual language. My currant body of work has evolved from the urban landscape, encounters the harsh realities, much of it is defined by architecture and the obsession with a modernist aesthetic of less is more or minimal.
